at Pioneer Arms Hotel, Goombungee

For the month of July, we are heading out to Goombungee, a beautiful small rural town for lunch.

Goombungee is approx 110km north-west of central Brisbane and 35 km north-west of Toowoomba.

The name was derived from the Goombungee pastoral run, taken up by Charles Pitt in 1847.

Meet and Greet

Meet and Greet at Fernvale Memorial Park, Brisbane Valley Highway, Fernvale.  The Old Fernvale Bakery and Cafe is on the other side of the road so those in need of another caffeine fix will be able to obtain it there.

The Drive

We will depart from Fernvale around 10 am and head to Esk and then take the Esk Hampton Road up the Range.

At Hampton, then turn right onto the New England Highway, then after passing through Pechey, turn left onto the Pechey Maclagan Road to Goombungee.  On reaching Goombungee, turn left onto the Kingsthorpe Haden Road.  The Pioneer Arms Hotel will be on the left.

We plan to arrive at the Pioneer Arms Hotel at approximately 11:30 am.

Lunch

Registration

Please register by 22 July 2026, indicating whether you will join the run from Goupon Park, or drive directly to the Hotel.
