MERCEDES-BENZ CLUB OF QUEENSLAND

140 YEARS TOUR OF GERMANY

16th - 26th October 2026

On behalf of the Committee I am delighted to announce that BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN for the much anticipated Tour of Germany to coincide with the 140 years of Mercedes-Benz.

All the information you need to help with your decision is provided in this email below.  

Up-front, I want to say we have a truly exciting tour planned, starting with an invitation to a special 140-years celebration event at the amazing Mercedes-Benz Museum and, in the following 10 days, visiting just about everything Mercedes-Benz has to show us in Stuttgart and much more.  

Before I go further, I want to thank and acknowledge the wonderful help we have received from Ana-Rosa Brommer and Franziska Enger from Mercedes-Benz In Stuttgart to put this tour together, with the ever-generous support from our great friends in Mercedes-Benz Heritage in Stuttgart - Georg Wohlfarth, Marcel Schuh and Rainer Finkbeiner.   Put simply, without this help and support, we will not be going to many of the places on the tour, so we greatly appreciate their efforts to bring this tour to life for the benefit of our members. 

TOUR PROGRAM 

Click here to access the detailed program for the ten days for your review.  We will be going to just about all the places we asked for, and have even been able to factor in a few other significant non-car sites while in the neighbourhood, so to speak.  A list of most (but not all) places are as follows:

TOUR DATES

Confirming that the Tour will commence on Saturday 17th October and go for ten days.  This means you need to arrive in Stuttgart by Friday, 16th October at the latest to join the tour. 16th October will be the first of ten nights of our tour, and checkout will be on Morning, 26th October.

The hotel we are staying at for the ten days is called "Jaz in the City", conveniently located about 1.9km from the middle of Stuttgart.

TOUR COSTS

We are pleased to announce that the cost for the 10-day tour will be $3,500 per person based on twin-share or double occupancy of the rooms.  This cost will include the following:

• Accommodation will be at the Hotel Jaz in the CIty, Stuttgart - https://jazinthecitystuttgart.wellnesshotel.org/ on the basis of twin-share or double occupancy.  Should anyone want a single room, pls drop us an email and we will follow-up.  Cost is likely to be an extra €65 - €75 per day.  
• Hot Breakfast every morning,
• All transfers to and from the hotel each day,
• All entry fees to the museums and other attractions, including any costs for guides or headsets as needed.
• Special "Dinner in the Dark" experience on Saturday, 24th October. 

The cost DOES NOT include lunches or dinners unless specified in the Program.  For example, we will cover the cost of the Dinner on Saturday 24th October, and a light lunch will als be provided when we go to the AMG factory as there are no cafes or restaurants in the vicinity.   Of course, you need to pay for your travel costs to and from Stuttgart.

BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN !

• We are so excited to announce that we are now taking bookings for the Tour.!!  
  
  
• Now that we have confirmed costs for the tour, we require full payment when you book.  Closing date for bookings and payments is Tuesday, 23rd June as previously advertised.  Naturally, we would like everyone to book and pay as early as possible as it helps the Committee with planning and finalising details.  Also note that Members who had previously registered their interest in the Tour will need to confirm that they will be attending by now making payment.

• Please send confirmation of your payment to our Treasurer Lynda Buckland (email: treasurer@mbcq.com.au or mobile 0401 485 141) including your full name, current mobile and email address.
  
  
• A reminder that all payments are non-refundable in the event you cannot come.  Of course, you can have someone else attend in your place and we will also help you find a replacement if needed, but understandably, the club cannot carry the cost of cancellations.
  
  
• Also, as mentioned in my last email, by all means, do make tentative airline bookings but please DO NOT PAY for personal airline tickets until you have received confirmation from us (on or around the 23rd June) that the Tour will definitely be going ahead.  While we are confident, based on the interest shown to date that the Tour will go ahead, we cannot be liable for any payments you made for airline tickets prior to 23rd June in the unlikely event that we get very low interest in the tour. 
   
• As mentioned, we will officially confirm the Tour by 24th June at the latest after bookings have closed.  Again, the earlier everyone coming can pay, the earlier we can make the decision that the tour will be going ahead.  Greatly appreciate your help in this regard.

FINAL COMMENTS

• As mentioned in my previous email, we seek your understanding that we are your fellow club members and volunteers who are giving a lot of their time to organise this event. Thus, we cannot offer tailored bookings for those who wish to come to (say) only some of the tours or stay in different locations but come on our tours.  We just cannot manage the logistics.
  
  
• We have negotiated to keep costs as low as possible but still have good quality accommodation, and an overall great experience. 
   
• We strongly recommend you take appropriate travel Insurance for this tour, given the prevailing uncertainties in that part of the world.
